Radar Detectors

Looking for a truly "discreet" radar and laser detector? Maybe you don't like other people inside their cars peering over into your interior in search of a detector, so they can hug your car and hitch along with the protection. Well, there's one product from Cheetah Advanced Technologies Ltd, the "Cheetah Mirror Speedtrap Detector".

The Cheetah Mirror speed trap detector discreetly and conveniently clips over your car's existing rear view mirror and effectively warns of GATSO cameras.
. Detects live laser and radar devices.
. No GPS, which means no required updates.

The Cheetah Mirror is also fitted with adjustable mounting clips which snuggly fit most, if not all existing rearview mirrors, you don't have to worry about removing it after every trip, or attract car thieves. The cord runs along the sides of the windshield, and tucks neatly behind the trim panels, an easily concealable design. The unit's housing is also designed for optimum signal detection, although the Cheetah Mirror is specifically made for right-hand vehicles, you can order a left-hand drive model by simply contacting the manufacturer.

The Cheetah Mirror requires a power supply to your vehicle's electrical supply. This is usually done with the included power cord, but can also be hard-wired if you prefer. A competent car electrician can easily do this for you in minutes, and all that is needed is a 2 amp fuse to protect the delicate internal circuitry of the Cheetah.

Cheetah Mirror Specifications:
In comparative reviews and tests against the UK's leading radar detector brands, the Cheetah Mirror exhibited a dramatic improvement in overall detection performance.

Bands Detected: K, Ka, Ku, Laser
X band is not being used in the UK and is removed from The Cheetah Mirror to minimize the occurrence of false alarms. K-band and Laser detection are constantly active, and the Ka and Ku can be turned on and off together to optimize the Cheetah Mirror's detection capability.

Gatso Range (facing away): 180 to 300m, which may reach up to 500m.
The Cheetah Mirror provides 180 to 300m advance alert if approaching a Gatso camera from the rear, Some cameras will register as far as 500m, depending on its location.

Gatso Range (facing towards): up to 600m
When approaching a Gatso camera from the front, Cheetah will be able to detect to as far as 600m, since the signal is relatively stronger. Handheld devices produce similar, or even more intense alerts.

Laser Range: 1 mile
A 1 mile advance warning is alerted when a laser is detected ahead, however, when laser speed detectors are used, it is often too late to slow down once your detector sounds, since your speed may have already been plotted.

Visual Alert: LED Display
Upon the detection of a radar threat, the Audio Warning mode LED at the lower panel will continually flash and the signal strength LEDs will light up one by one. A green, then amber and then red, as the strength of the signal gets stronger.
When a laser beam is encountered by The Cheetah Mirror, the Power On / Night mode LED will start to flash.

Audio Alert: Beeps
The audio tone quickens at the approach of a threat source. The volume can be adjusted to the desired level via a rotary volume control, and can be completely muted if needed.
Different tones are sounded to represent the different speed traps your vehicle may encounter.

City Mode: Enabled
The Cheetah Mirror utilizes an ingenious automatic muting system, called City Mute. When selected, the unit will sound 1 second of audible alerts for each specific signal detected and then mutes itself, the warning LEDs however, will still function like normal.

Night Mode: Enabled
Another ingenious feature is the selectable Night Mode. This turns off all except one of the LEDs, which will discreetly blink every 10 seconds to reassure you that The Cheetah Mirror is still prowling for radar threats ahead. The audible confirmations and alert tones still operate as normal in this mode.

Selectable Radar Bands: Enabled
K-band and Laser detection are always on active. This is the optimal setting for the UK, but some mobile cameras make use of Ku-band technology. The Ka and Ku-band detection may be turned on or off together.

Warranty: 2 years
Purchase of The Cheetah Mirror entitles a 2-year "replace or repair" warranty as a standard.
